Teaching Children

Prospective pupils

Julia offers a fun and friendly approach to learning music. She tailors each lesson to the individual; their personal tastes, and what they want to achieve from their lessons.

Lessons with Julia will include fun musical games, call and response playing, improvisation, composition and music theory. Right from the very first lesson you will be creating your own music, and having fun exploring your new instrument.

During the lesson Julia will offer useful practise advise, and is happy to share this with parents when teaching younger children. Pupils are encouraged to practise regularly, and young pupils efforts are rewarded with lots of praise, and choice from a large range of stickers!

She has an extensive selection of repertoire, including many fun books aimed at primary school aged children. She loves to play duets with her pupils, and has a great range of duet music.

Julia runs optional small ensembles for young learners, where children can create music together, aswell as play games and learn about the theory of music. Concerts are a regular part of the year, and provide a great opportunity for the children to perform together, and enjoy hearing music played by their peers (please note all ensembles and concerts are optional).
