Julia is a private clarinet, flute and alto saxophone teacher, teaching pupils in Four Oaks, Sutton Coldfield and the surrounding areas. She also teaches music theory, both as an integral part of her instrumental lessons, and as a separate subject. She is trained to degree level in Music, and has completed a teaching course run by the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music. She has entered hundreds of pupils into exams, with excellent results. Several of her pupils have been asked to play in High Scorers' Concerts following their exceptional exam results. She is a registered Music Medals Assessor, which means that pupils can take Music Medals exams during normal lesson times, and receive official recognition of their efforts.
Lessons take place from a well equipped music studio based in Four Oaks, where Julia has a large library of music and resources available. Students currently travel from Sutton Coldfield, New Oscott, Streetly, Tamworth, Erdington and Lichfield. Whether you want to take exams or just learn for fun, Julia will work with you at your own pace to help you achieve your own personal goals. However old or young you are, it is never too late to learn a musical instrument!
Julia organises performance opportunities for pupils, helping them to join local orchestras and music events, as well as running private concerts for pupils to play in. All performance opportunities are optional, and even those who do not want to play in them enjoy coming along to socialise with other musicians. For primary school aged children there are optional group workshops, covering ensemble playing, theory and lots of musical games.
