Julia currently enters pupils into both classical and jazz exams run by ABRSM and LCM. These syllabuses include a wide range of styles of music, and have something to suit every taste. The grades run from the Prep Grade (pre-grade 1) through to Grade 8 for advanced players. They are designed to be achievable milestones in a students progress, and are widely recognised qualifications.

Also available are the Music Medal grades, from Copper through to Platinum. These are very popular with young learners, as they are more informal, and you are assessed during normal lesson time by Julia. They are made up of three components; a solo, an ensemble piece (duet or trio), and musical games (either: call and response, make a tune, question and answer, or sight reading). There are no set exam periods, so the exam can be taken whenever the candidate feels ready.
